Mandatory Evacuation Issued by Parish President

Press Release: Saturday 10/7/17 at 8:30 a.m.

Due to Hurricane, Tropical Storm, and Storm Surge Warnings remaining in effect, the Parish President and Office of Homeland Security for Lafourche Parish have issued a Mandatory Evacuation for residents South of the Leon Theriot Floodgates in Golden Meadow ONLY.

Residents can take shelter at the Raceland Recreation Center located at 241 Recreation Drive, Raceland, LA 70394. Officials ask that you supply your own food and water for up to a 72 hour duration.  In addition, please provide your own transportation, if possible.

All preparations along the Gulf Coast should be completed this morning ahead of Hurricane Nate!! Check information for your specific location and please monitor the forecast closely for updates. Prepare for possible power outages. Life threatening storm surge expected along coastal areas.

At 4am the center of Hurricane Nate was 345 miles SSE of the mouth of the Mississippi River. Nate is forecast to continue to strengthen today over the Gulf ahead of landfall.
